Extend the lifetime of your Television for FREE

These tips will help ensure you get the most out of your TVs lifespan

Turn off your television when not in use

Televisions have an average lifespan, this can span from one year of continuous use up-to 10 depending on how you maintain your device. Turning the television off regularly will extend the life of your telly as none of the components are being subject to wear while it is off.

Leaving the television off for prolonged amounts of time, upwards of months at a time, can however have a detrimental affect on your electronics.

One of the easiest methods to help manage extend your TV on any modern set is to apply a standby timer so the television will automatically turn off when it hasn’t been interacted with for a set time-frame.

Ensure the television has proper ventilation

Television sets will have ventilation, usually on the back of the set, this is so the internal fans can push heat out of the system and avoid overheating of the components. It can be easy to accidentally cover the ventilation and this can cause heat-damage to the system and is potentially a fire-hazard. You can often find the ventilation by feeling behind your TV for the fan and prevent any issues by ensuring it is unobstructed.

Use a surge protector

Power surges are caused by spikes in the electrical current within your house, this can have an adverse effect on your television or other electronics. The easiest solution is to use a surge protector which will feature a fuse designed to shut off the circuit in case of a power-surge.
